30 and 30 made up the consist of the making a total of 2,300 of rail length possible to rack

Common rack car, 40 foot flat modified with racks. Notice how far inboard the rack is positioned. This aids in the ability to pickup on sharp curves and allows the rail to slide from side to side.

My first approach to the trains was from the south, the highway was to the north and runs parallel to the track. I saw only the work train from the highway.
